Pro-xylane, also known as hydroxyethyl tetrahydropyrantriol, is a structurally simple and low molecular weight derivative of xylose. Since xylose is abundant in the beech tree and has the ability to promote the generation of glucosamine glycosaminoglycans (GAGS), Pro-aylane, extracted from the beech tree, shares similarities with xylose in terms of its function. It is an anti-aging active substance that promotes the synthesis of collagen, making the skin more resilient and elastic, improving fine lines on the neck, and preventing aging.

Characteristics of Pro-xylane
Small Molecular Weight and Strong Penetration: Pro-xylane has a small molecular weight and high permeability, providing excellent moisturizing effects.
Comparable Efficacy to Retinol and Peptides, but Gentler Nature: Pro-xylane’s effectiveness is on par with retinol and peptides, but it is known for its milder properties.
Not a Natural Ingredient: Pro-xylane is synthesized by further processing xyloside extracted from beech trees as the raw material.
Promotes Regeneration of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in the Extracellular Matrix: Pro-xylane can stimulate the regeneration of GAGs in the extracellular matrix, affecting collagen, resulting in firmer skin.
Thickens the Epidermal Layer: Pro-xylane has the ability to increase the thickness of the epidermal layer, reducing the risk of skin sensitivity significantly.
Anti-Aging and Skin Repair: Pro-xylane can be used for anti-aging and skin repair, representing a gentle and versatile anti-aging ingredient.
Mechanism of Action of Pro-xylane
Facilitating the absorption of other active ingredients
Pro-xylane is a non-ionic surfactant with significant dispersing and emulsifying abilities. It can, similar to ethanol, assist in the penetration of other active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin.
Promoting the synthesis of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs)
GAGs are one of the components of the human extracellular matrix, resembling springs that provide support to our skin. With strong hydrophilic properties, GAGs help maintain the tightness and fullness of the skin. Pro-xylane can stimulate the production of GAGs, thereby promoting the synthesis of proteoglycans (PGs) and increasing dermal collagen. This contributes to the promotion of dermal repair, improvement of skin elasticity, increased firmness, and reduction of fine lines.
Enhancing the synthesis of Type IV and VII Collagen
Type IV and VII collagen are core components that connect the dermal and epidermal layers. Pro-xylane can stimulate dermal cells to accelerate the synthesis of these two types of collagen, strengthening the dermal-epidermal connection and allow GAGs to fill within the collagen fibers, improving skin laxity associated with aging and subsequently reducing wrinkles.
